JESSE PAXTON* was born in 1781 in England and he became a packer. He was married on 21.6.1801 in London (St Giles Church, Cripplegate) to Sarah Froy* who was also born in 1781.  He died in 1835 at his own residence in Grahamstown and she died on 4.10.1870 also in Grahamstown.  They were Settler's in Dixon's Party on 'Ocean'
c.1.  William Paxton*, born 22.10.1806, married in Cape Town on 13.2.1832 to (1st) Jessie Patterson who was born in 1818 (?).
         [?? IGI gives one possible date of birth of a Jessie Paterson as born 1818, in Fyvie, Aberdeen, Scotland and died 1862] 
         Jessie Patterson died on 6.2.1863 in Grahamstown and he married (2nd) Sarah Kidwell.  He died in 1892 and he had 12 children.
c.2.   Charles Paxton*, born 7.3.1808; christened Shoreditch, London, UK; married Sarah Elizabeth Christiana Tolken.  He died 1876.
c.3.   George Paxton*, born 22.2.1812; christened Shoreditch, London, UK.
c.4.  Henry Paxton*, born 8.4.1814 (christened at St Leonards , Shoreditch, London) and on 27.11.1838 he married Mary Susan Painter* who was born in 1816 and they had 10 children.
c.5.  Sarah Elizabeth Paxton* who was born on 6.4.1809, probably also christened at Shoreditch, London, and she was married in Grahamstown on 10.4.1827 to Samuel Freemantle*, who became a painter, glazier and shopkeeper.  He was born on 1.2.1809 probably in Portsea, near Southampton.   He died 3.4.1879 and she died 10.8.1879 both in Cradock.
c.6.   Elizabeth Paxton*, born 1817 and died 26.3.1826.
c.7.   David Paxton*, born on 19.12.1817, christened on 9.1.1818 at St Leonards, Shoreditch, London and he was married in Grahamstown on 13.3.1838 to Harriet Matilda Painter*.  She was born in 1819 in London and died 9.8.1896 in Umtata.  He died 16.9.1876 in Somerset East and they had 4 children:  (a) Walter Harry Paxton, born 31.3.1847; died young? (b) Fanny Elizabeth Paxton (b. 28.7.1842) married Jesse William Freemantle on 27.3.1867 in Flagstaff (Cradock or Queenstown?)  -  For details see F7/3.[9]9  (c)Harriet Wilhelmina Paxton and (d) Lydia Matilda Paxton.

c.8.  Emma Paxton, born in 1820, six weeks after her parent's arrival in South Africa.  She married William Fletcher on 24.1.1838 in Grahamstown and she died in 1882.
